Introduction
One of the largest and fastest growing segments of Europe's diverse motorcycle market continues to be the lively 125/150cc scooter class. As a first step on the way to gaining a full motorcycle license, the 125cc class provides young novice riders with an exciting and fun-packed introduction to the freedom of motorised two-wheel transport with a diverse range of styles and riding experiences to choose from. In the scooter market, the more powerful 150cc class draws customers from all age groups, salary levels and ranges of experience, whether recently fully licensed novices or seasoned riders simply looking for easy and economical transport, especially important in these days of rising fuel costs.
While 50cc 2-stroke scooters have until quite recently dominated the entry level class of young scooter riders, the last few years have seen cleaner and quieter new models powered by 4-stroke engines come to the fore as tightening exhaust emissions regulations and growing concern for the environment have restricted the production and use of 2-stroke vehicles. Accompanying these changes, new technologies such as advanced computerised fuel injection and low emissions systems have made significant strides in helping small-displacement 4-stroke scooter engines ease into an even cleaner new age of stricter EURO-3 exhaust regulations.
The main attractions of the growing 125cc class of scooters include their stronger performance and roomier, more comfortable two-up riding capability compared to the 50cc class, although they do require a learner's permit to ride. Likewise, growing numbers of urban commuters have discovered that scooters offers a smart and efficient alternative to the family car and public transportation, as well as being a quick, convenient and economical way of running one's errands, getting around, or simply enjoying a day out with friends.
Honda offers a wide selection of scooters in the 125 and 150cc classes, nearly all designed, developed and produced in Europe. Each model features a distinctive image and sense of style, and all are powered by advanced liquid-cooled 4-stroke engines which offer the advantages of strong performance, quiet, dependable operation and ultra-low exhaust emissions.
Building on the expanding popularity of scooters as a useful mode of transportation, Honda now proudly introduces another distinctive new 125/150cc model which not only features attractive modern styling and pleasurable riding and operating ease, but also the cutting-edge technological advancement of Honda's latest fuel injection and low-emissions systems for maximised economy and reliability, and minimised impact on the environment. The new PS125i/PS150i gathers together the best features of Honda's mid-sized scooter line-up in an exciting and stylish new entry vehicle that offers style, comfort, convenience and dependable economy for delightful days of commuting, errand-running or carefree riding enjoyment.
